WOMAN'S OUTLOOK (an NRA publication)

Around 10 years ago, a number of companies came out with some nice lines of women's hunting clothes. Some of these companies, such as Zanika, went out of business, and most of the larger companies dropped their lines within a few years. For a while, women were once again reduced to struggling to find men's clothes that would give them a semi-fit.

But what goes around comes around, and once again women's hunting clothing has a presence in the marketplace. Here's a sample of what's new and interesting.

Rivers West Apparel is using H2P fabric to make a line of hunting clothing that includes two garments for women. The Misty Mountain Vest has interior cargo pockets and zippered hand-warmer pockets. The Lynx Jacket has adjustable neoprene storm cuffs, hand-warmer pockets, interior cargo pockets, and elastic shell holders. Both come in Mossy Oak Break-Up, Mossy Oak Shadow Grass, and Hunter Orange.

According to Rivers West, the H2P Waterproof System was developed to provide garments that are warm, insulating and totally waterproof, but with only a single ply of fabric. The fabric has a fleece exterior, so it is both quiet and durable.Rivers West offers the following guarantee: If you buy one of its H2P garments and don't think it's the best hunting gear you've ever had, the company will give you a full refund within 30 days of purchase and $20 toward the purchase of a competitor's garment. When Gore-Tex was introduced a decade or so ago, it represented a huge leap in high-tech hunting clothing. If the H2P Waterproof System lives up to its claims, it will mark yet another radical change.
